Immigration processes reactivated for those who applied with valid Parole
After weeks of uncertainty, there’s positive news for those who submitted applications during their active Humanitarian Parole: USCIS has resumed processing of applications for adjustment of status, work permits, permanent residence, and other benefits that were paused.
This applies only to those who filed valid applications (e.g., I‑485, I‑765) while their Parole was active and compliant.
What happened?
In May, a broad administrative pause was ordered to implement stricter security and fraud measures under the Trump-era policies. Thousands of timely and compliant applications were left in limbo.
What changes now?
Following new administrative guidance, USCIS is now reopening cases filed during active Parole, including:
- Green Card applications (I‑485)
- Work permit renewals
- Advance Parole requests
- Cuban Adjustment Act cases (where applicable)
- Asylum and other pending cases
Next steps:
- Check your case status online or consult with your attorney
- Keep your Parole document handy with its key dates
- Stay alert for updates from USCIS
At Benme Legal, we recognize every case is unique. If you're unsure whether this update applies to you or need help revitalizing your case, our team is here to assist.
