The E-1 Visa is a treaty trader visa designated for individuals who will be in the United States exclusively to engage in substantial trade of international scope, either on their own or as an employee of a foreign person or organization engaged primarily in trade between the United States and the treaty country of which the foreigner is a national.

Consideration is also given to any conditions in the foreigner’s home country that might affect their ability to engage in such substantial trade.
